Teased out in Mat Zo’s Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 earlier this year, “Bird Is The Word” sees the Californian duo step out with a bold, exhilarating and forward-thinking dancefloor monster that fuses a range of influences in unique style.
Beginning with cheeky vocodered vocal samples and a drop into a funk-fuelled groove that manages to be both minimal and heavy-hitting, “Bird Is The Word” leads into a breakdown that is full of the spine-tingling stadium melodics that Bruce and Nick are known for.
